Inside "A Room of Her Own": Why I Started This Space
Letters on beauty, intention, and designing a life that feels like home.
If we haven’t met, I’m Crystal. I’m an interior designer, a mother of three, and a lifelong seeker—of beauty, growth, clarity, and the truest version of myself. I’ve always been drawn to design—not just the kind that fills a room, but the quiet architecture that shapes how we live, how we feel, and who we’re becoming.
I created this space because I believe design isn’t just about what we see—it’s about the way we move through the world. I’m endlessly curious about what it means to live well—from the rhythms and perspective that steady us to the spaces, stories, and objects that help us feel more at home in ourselves.
The title A Room of Her Own is a nod to Virginia Woolf’s iconic essay, where she writes that for a woman to create freely, she needs both space and sovereignty. I’ve always loved that. For me, this Substack is that room—a place to explore ideas, share perspective, and connect to something quieter and more true. It’s also for anyone who needs a pause from the noise—a quiet return to their own room within.
In this space, you’ll find interviews and insights from women I admire, reflections on what I’m learning and loving each season, and beautifully considered recommendations—from interiors to wellness to wardrobe and personal style. It’s not a how-to, but more a gathering of what’s thoughtful, useful, and quietly inspiring in the pursuit of a life well lived.
My hope is that A Room of Her Own becomes a room you can return to—anytime you want to feel more like yourself.
Thanks for being here.
x Crystal
